No one should be walking around with a full energy bar unless there is literally nothing useful to cast you don't want the slow trickle of energy refills to go to waste.Įven on Torment, I don't find the energy mechanic unworkable, and certainly don't find any of these characters useless. This is my ruler, who starts out focusing on Haven Royal Cultural buffs and heals, then respecs to the Support tree around level 6.Įveryone picks a few key utility talents from outside their main tree, and uses these as needed outside combat. One mage, who casts a mass debuff/damage spell or two at the beginning of the fight to get the momentum going our way, then snipes with her staff unless the fight is intense enough to be worth blowing lots of energy on. One archer, who takes single-target talents from the combat tree, and picks off/immobilizes/knocks back annoying or high-value enemies. With good positioning, and maybe help from a summon, he lets enemies cluster around him and then damages or debuffs them en masse. One melee tank, who takes defensive equipment and specializes "All nearby enemies" talents like Whirlwind and Terrifying Scream. A little further into the game now, and still liking the party I described earlier.
